Anyway I found the below cable on eBay and I'm ordering it with hopes it will help. A single, longer (12') USB extension cable plugged into the Nikon cable seems to work fine but if I use several shorter cables the resistance in the plugs seem to cause problems. I've found the distance from the camera to the computer makes a difference IF you use multiple USB cables to span that distance. Live view is disabled and the tablet is the LCD screen.
